Local Resident Girls Working Hard for the Homeless

Back PackMegan Drew and Taylor Murch, sophomores at Del Norte High School and Girl Scouts in Troop 8678, are working on their Girl Scout Silver Award. Their project, Back The Pack, supports homeless education by filling backpacks with new school supplies and donating them to a third grade class at Monarch School in San Diego (www.monarchschools.org). They would love to have your support as they collect: new backpacks, blunt scissors, 16 pkg crayons, 8 pkg markers, erasers, glue sticks, pencils, pencil cases, socks, underwear, and wide rule one subject notebooks.

Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:

Blind SideLast Chance For Movies At The Park
Saturday, September 18, 4S Ranch Community Park

Shay & Associates, with the help of the County of San Diego Parks and Recreation, the Watershed Protection Program, SDGE, Dr. James Padilla and Dr. Brian Davey, and the 4S Ranch Master Association have one more movie for you! The Blind Side will be playing on September 18.
Grab your family and friends and don’t forget your chairs and blankets for a fun-filled Movie in the Park!

Local Business Events Support Local Schools

Civil DBaby Vie and Civil D will be hosting a “Family Happy Hour!” on Friday September 10 from 3 to 5 pm in the store. Drinks and cupcakes will be served.  A children’s face painter and balloon artist will be on hand to help the kiddies celebrate, too!  Please plan to stop by!

Fun New Fall Arrivals” Trunk Show at Sweet Things Frozen Yogurt on Thursday September 16 from 3 to 8 pm.  Sweet Things owner, Nancy, and Nicki of Civil Disobedience Boutique have teamed up to bring this fun event to all of our local families! 10% of ALL proceeds from BOTH companies will be divided up and donated to the following local PUSD Schools: Del Sur Elementary, Stone Ranch Elementary, Monterey Ridge Elementary, Oak Valley Middle School, Del Norte High School! Del Sur Educational Foundation Golf Tournament
DATE CHANGE - Friday, October 8 from 1 to 7pm, The Vineyard

GolfThe Del Sur Educational Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising additional funds for Del Sur Elementary School, will host “Fore The Kids Golf Scramble” September 24 from 1 to 7 pm at The Vineyard in Escondido.

“As parents and community members, we’re thrilled to support Del Sur Elementary School,” said Tom McCartin, event chair. “This is our first annual golf tournament, and I’m really excited to see it come to life.  This year’s event will benefit technology advancement at the school.” Participants and sponsors are currently needed.
